What if Pete Doherty spent less time doing crack and more time getting high on the fact that he gets to have sex with Kate Moss? Im Grunde war mir das Riff von Chelsea Dagger schon irgendwie im Ohr, aber weder kannte ich den Namen des Titels noch der Band. Though fond of the double-timed rave-ups and streetlight serenades that form the genetic code for post-Libertines, UK guitar-rock bands, the faux-fraternal Fratellis aren't so much the sound of young Britain as the sound of dad's old record collection. Music Week's Stuart Clarke said, "A month after the scout discovered them, labels were flying up to Scotland to see them. Highly anticipated debut album from Glaswegian Indie sensations Comprising of singer Jon, drummer Mince and Barry on bass (and shouting), The Fratellis mix up a brilliant concoction of 70's glam, 60's songwriting and a pinch of Punk.

Chelsea Dagger" was the most successful single, peaking at five in the UK and four in the Netherlands. Five songs were released as singles; " Henrietta", " Chelsea Dagger", " Whistle for the Choir", " Baby Fratelli" and " Ole Black 'n' Blue Eyes". Glaswegian indie sensations the Fratellis finally release their anticipated debut album, Costello Music. But the Fratellis are a decent singles band working overtime here-- though no song breaks the four-minute mark, there's still 13 of them to wade through, and most are beholden to a predictable pattern of hop-along verse and overexcited amped-up chorus, while the attempts to toughen up their eager-to-please power-pop with bluesy prowls ("Doginabag") and hoarse-throat punky aggression ("Got Ma Nuts From a Hippy") are far less engaging.El disco en sí es genial, gran debut de estos escoceses, nunca volvieron a este nivel lamentablemente. Stylus Magazine's Ryan Foley shared similar views, describing it as "beyond infectious" and claiming that they fill "their three-minute, pop-punk ditties with melodic snarl, flouncing sass, and enough lusty sing-along parts to keep the punters busy". Costello Music tears along with the energy and cheekiness of early Supergrass, vocals that are part-Bolan part-Doherty and a unpretentious love of all things pop. The exception - in terms of a change of pace - is the "ballad" (inverted commas as I'm not sure the Fratellis entirely "do" ballads), "Whistle for the Choir" - which although it demonstrates a definite naivety with slower songs, improves with repeated listening. It reached forty-two on the US Billboard 200, and managed to chart in Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, France and New Zealand.

It's pretty rare for me to like all of the tracks on a album, but this is definitely one of those albums.Flathead" was used in an iPod commercial, which led to it being released as a download only single via iTunes and later as an EP.
