When you’re in a massive space battle, the last thing you want is to jump to another location for a territory dispute. But Lyria's story and her budding friendship with a particular character really caught me off guard. It is meant to be used as a reference for those who have already read the book and need the information or a refresher on the storyline. This might be the best Red Rising book so far, but either way, it was the best book in the second series by far. Pierce stated he wrote have approx 70 pages of a Sevro POV, going in a few different directions, which he may release pieces of later, but they will not be canon There were also a bunch of different prologues which were them all scrapped.

You could easily tell that Audible had been changing some of the mixer settings instead of just letting TGR do his magic like he did in the original trilogy. Red Rising is an amazing series, its core are the humanae gestae and the characters, a cast that, after 5 years since first reading the series, feels like home. My admiration and passion for this series has pushed me to willingly read the series from the beginning again—despite how busy I am—in preparation for the arrival of Light Bringer, the sixth and penultimate volume in the series.I swear i lost 5 years off my life due to gut wrenching anxiety this whole book waiting for the shoe to drop. but that doesn't mean that i didn't love every bit of this book every time i picked it up - i just needed to take it in small doses to prepare for the intense trauma and suffering that my favourite characters ALWAYS seem to be experiencing. Unlike the previous two novels, Which had multiple narrators for the audiobook, Light Bringer is only narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds. the character work is mostly (iykyk) superb here, and on a level i’ve rarely seen (ASOIAF/First Law good).

Pierce Brown had written 400 pages of Light Bringer until he realized he had taken the story in the wrong direction and threw out those pages and restarted the book from scratch. anyway, not a whole lot i can say about this without spoiling, just that i wish my loves would catch a damn break, and also i miss victra and virginia.I still can't say it's the best in the series but it's very enjoyable so far, a large part being tim's incredible skill but I feel pierce has recovered the confidence of the original series. Without him, I don't know if I ever even finish the first book, and now this series is among my favorite of all time.
