Daily cleansing: Cleansing the skin daily will wash away the build-up of dirt and dead skin cells which may be contributing to spotty skin. It’s important to use luke-warm water and mild soap, no more than twice a day, to gently clean the skin without causing irritation. Accidents with ovens/scalding - sometimes household burns can become more severe if the burn is large in size and reaches the dermis

Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.

Common Uses

I personally prefer Neosporin. I carry that plus a 14 day course of Augmentin XR ( Amoxicillin plus Clavulanic acid, slow release) which is a very good broad spectrum antibiotic. I carry so I can take one tablet every 8 hours as opposed to the standard one tablet every 12 hours.

After a good cleaning, let the wound bleed for a bit. Think internal cleaning. Blood contains antibodies that will take care of bacteria. Also contains: Cetostearyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, methylhydroxy­benzoate (E218) propylhydroxy­benzoate (E216), disodium edetate, perfume (inc limonene, linalool, benzyl benzoate, citral) & purified water. In northern Europe we do not need to use an antibiotic cream or ointment unless the wound is turning nasty. Severe sunburn - often happens after an extended period of sun exposure, resulting in burns of a large portion of the skin with extensive blisteringif you are allergic to any of the ingredients, especially Chlorhexidine as it may cause allergic reactions. Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. In most cases all that should be done is to clean it with clean water, saline solution is even better. Cover with a plaster or bandage. Savlon Antiseptic Cream contains effective germ-killing and cleansing agents. Savlon's smooth moisturising cream base allows gentle application onto damaged skin. Frequency not known: Allergic skin reactions such as dermatitis, pruritus, erythema, eczema, rash, urticaria, skin irritation, and blisters This on small, shallow cuts and abrasions. The deep ones, that might need suturing, need to be cleaned, bandaged, then seek professional help. Directions: With clean hands gently apply cream to the affected area. Do not use on the eyes or ears.More severe symptoms include wet-looking wounds, irregular pattern burn of the affected area, intense pain and white/deep red appearance of the skin. If you experience any of the latter symptoms, it’s recommended to visit your GP/hospital for medical examination.
