About Anton, i did have my suspicions when he (at the perfect timing) got out of the chair to avoid the dart and when he told Bonbon about the poisonous flower at Herriet's house , like it was too strange yk. However it did get a little bit slow (for me) in the middle of the story, a few parts there bored me but thankfully it sped up towards the end. Montgomery Bonbon is the super- sleuth pseudonym of a 10-year-old Bonnie, who loves nothing more than donning her lustrous moustache and getting to grips with a mystery. What a great read aloud this would be and an opportunity to create your own persona, disguise and mystery to solve!

The museum is full of bizarre-looking animals that the wealthy owner, the late Abelard Hornville, assembled from the remains of extinct animals that explorers sent him.As a solid four from me it definitely has broad appeal, and many a young reader will want the sequels to come "ASAP as possible". The new sleuth is humorous and witty and will inspire budding detectives everywhere, as all that is clearly needed is a clever disguise, a fake moustache, a notebook and lemon bonbons! Murder at the Museum is deadly, it’s also funny packed full of clues ready to be found and deciphered and, although full of black and white illustrations, thanks to Claire Powell, it’s a colourful story. Hilarious and at times extremely heartwarming this was such an enjoyable read and I couldn’t recommend it enough. Candy Gourlay introduces Wild Song, her companion novel to Bone Talk, in which Luki and Samkad leave their home in the Philippines for America. Beckett-King has fun in his description of them: the frizzy- haired horticulturist with plants sprouting out of every pocket, and the indomitable handy-woman who caretakes the museum are especially good comedy value. Not to be deterred adult Alasdair Beckett-King who may never have solved a murder, chose the next best thing. As a fan of murder mystery novels, I appreciate the influences worn on its sleeve and the fun play on words.

Suspects, clues, red herrings and secret identities are revealed with charm and so much personality.

It is however still difficult to believe such a young child could solve a murder - or that a murder is really understandable to the magnitude it would likely need to be to solve it at the ripe age of 10! This middle-grade novel will keep the reader entertained with its exciting plot, twists, and plenty of humour to give them the giggles throughout. And can I just say, the author narrating it was absolutely brilliant and he did a beyond stellar job.

A brilliantly funny young murder mystery from a rising stand-up comedian, podcaster and filmmaker – and exciting new talent in children’s fiction. Hornville's Museum of Natural History is no ordinary museum and Bonnie is super excited to visit the museum because of its bizarre collection. Bonnie is on vacation at Odde Island with her Grampa, when she hears of the death at the lighthouse. Fastastic to see he can turn his talents to children's humour, which is quite a different animal to adult humour.Montgomery Bonbon leaves no stone, or onion, unturned, as we know from Montgomery Bonbon: Murder at the Museum. Alasdair Beckett-King has created a brilliantly crafted, clever and funny character with rich storylines that have this Bookwagon reader retracing to enjoy anew, and try to match Bonbon’s deductive skills. It’s not long before Bonbon is putting her best detective skills to work, demonstrating to special constable Roz Baillie that Maude Cragge’s demise is not an accident but….
