About this deal

Its a real chameleon on my skin, running the gamut from spicey to boozy to sweet depending on how long I have it on. Cloves, cardamon, vanilla - it is there indeed- but the heliotrope stands out so beautifully, no other perfume I know can make this tiny violet flowers truly shine.

For me there is no distinctive note that I feel, I just sense it as a whole as it is perfectly blended, beautiful warm, and seductive. My husband really likes this on me as well, he told me I smelled "like a bakery" and I really can't disagree with him there. To me, Kenzo Jungle L'elephant is quite in line with many of the 90's classics and their style of sweet, fluffy glamour, and I'm so glad we still have this in circulation. Then the cloves and other spices combined to smell like a cinnamon blend for a moment, followed very quickly by a hint of beautiful sandalwood incense - but not smoky, mind you, as that would be a bust for me. Personally I feel very comfortable in this mix, but I understand, that the cloves, caraway and cumin might be a liiitle bit too much. It's complex and I imagine it smells differently on each person, the exact way a scent is supposed to work. This discovery is going to send me down the rabbit-hole in an effort to find more fragrances that have a similar composition. It’s gorgeous, but definitely a ‘bomb’ I think I may need a full bottle, it’s discontinued and getting harder to find!

Wear this at 32-40 degrees (90-100 Fahrenheit) and it's a lush succulent sweet yet natural Mango on a bed of potent but soft spices. To me this scent is more reminiscent of the hot bustling spice markets in India or the Middle East, than of the holiday season, and because there’s very little sweetness, it’s not as likely to become cloying as some other scents. It might be emphasized by a patchouli, which is reminiscent of that one in Maison Margiela: Autumn Vibes - you feel the smell of wet fallen leaves, very nostalgic. Not my favourite scent in the world, but the performance is so outstanding I love it for what it is. These days, I get a fascinating mix of cinnamon-camphor warmth (reminiscent of Tiger Balm), nutty cardamom, creamy tropical florals, and milky vanilla. I would say it is truly polarising and will be a proper love / hate fragrance, it is utterly enormous and you just can't hide from it anywhere!

I get why this is presented as 'the elephant' if you imagine a jungle animal being a fragrance, the elephant is the largest most powerful animal in the jungle, every animal runs from the stampeding elephant its a powerful presence, a force. the older bottle was sliiiiightly sweeter, but it's like the difference between adding a cup of sugar and an extra teaspoon after that. It is like home in those weeks just before Christmas while everything smells like cookies and spice. I can spray this in the morning, and come evening, it’s still there, softer and closer to be sure, but still commanding a presence.Twelve hours later, I still smell Jungle L'Elephant, although it has calmed down to a lovely warm scent.
