All soundbases pretend they're ready for the task of doubling up as a plinth for your flatscreen TV, yet some tend to be quite narrow, making them inelegant – and sometimes impractical – partners for larger-sized screens. The introduction of Canton's lengthy DM100 is therefore a welcome move. But when I demoed with the sub connected at richer sounds the quality for music improved, so I can imagine if I connect bk xls400 with this I will have the best of both worlds. Things get even better with Blu-rays. Via the DM100, The Expendables 3 becomes an absolute assault on the senses with guns firing, bullets pinging, bells ringing, helicopter blades whirring, train carriages rattling and more. The soundbase presents this sonic storm with assurance and clarity, so that you’re aware of each effect without feeling overwhelmed. Consequently you feel fully engaged with the movie. Watching movies with this seems far better experience than when I had my floorstanders there is a vast amount of detail and clarity.

A key feature for music lovers is Bluetooth 4.0 with apt-X, which allows CD-quality streaming from mobile devices. You’ll also find on-board Dolby Digital decoding and DTS TruSurround, DTS’s processing technology for soundbars and TVs.Let me first describe the problem, then tell you about my setup and then describe my awful experience with Samsung tech support!!! I have two award winning options (albeit in different categories) to look at, the Sonos Playbar and the Canton DM55. I mostly use the iOS app to change settings but for some reason you can’t change the centre channel this can only be changed using the SK10Y remote. If you have th Android app it does have the centre channel setting. What’s more, it’s a cinch to use and build quality is top-notch. Yes it’s expensive but the DM100’s performance, design and simplicity are so impressive that you won’t regret splashing out. Canton DM100 – Verdict

The DM 75 is a surprisingly good Bluetooth music player too, making the most of its three-way driver complement and aptX support. It digs out details that go missing on lesser soundbases and renders basslines with great agility. Verdict I have tested my SK10Y with rears and have no lip sync issues with my Apple TV 4K, Shield TV and Nintendo switch when they are connected directly to my LG B8. I currently connect my Shield straight to the soundbar so I receive lossless audio (TrueHD ATMOS) and connected my Apple TV 4K direct to TV which I can receive lossy DD+ with Atmos with Netflix and iTunes. It streams via WiFi which means there is no downsampling. So it plays exactly what it’s sent, from compressed MP3 files, to uncompressed audio files like FLAC or Apple Lossless.
