In 2018, Monisha was invited by the Wellcome Collection, London, to talk about Ayurvedic nutrition as part of their exhibition, ‘Ayurveda Man’ and opened the South Asian Spice Box residency at Borough Market, London, with a cookery demonstration of south Indian food. Knowing the spices and herbs that are used in Indian cooking, and understanding how to use then properly. Praveen & Swarna, multi-award-winning restaurateurs and chef, offer you a unique Indian cooking experience in Perth, Scotland. This one-day class masterfully combines hands-on cooking training, top quality produce and inspirational teaching as you are guided through the authentic dishes, spices, and stories from Praveen & Swarna’s home in South India. Your cook school experience includes plenty of time at your own individual cooking station creating dishes that you will then get to enjoy with a glass of wine or beer at the end of the session … there is always plenty to take home too!Never cooked Indian food before? The course is suitable for all levels - curry lovers and home cooks to professional chefs who are keen to learn about Indian cuisine. The course includes: Established in 2010, The Indian cooking class is where the story began here at The Cooking Academy. Alongside her rich Indian heritage and descending from a long line of spice merchants, our founder, chef and author Kumud Gandhi has amassed years of experience in cooking fine Indian cuisine. Many people from all walks of life have enjoyed Kumud’s cooking which along the way has included some familiar names such as In 2017, she worked with Kew Gardens giving talks on healing Indian ingredients, and with the British Council on ‘How The British Fell in Love With Curry – a historical perspective from 1200-2017’. We are happy to discuss any specific requests you have for your lesson, but a sample menu for this lesson = A main curry type of your choice, + a dry veg dish (eg. Sag Aloo) OR lentil dahl , + a bread (Naan/ chappatties) , OR a whole spice pilau rice. You'll be going behind the scenes of Kanishka, the Mayfair restaurant run by two Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar which focuses on the unexplored cuisine from the so called 'Sister States' of India.

Post completion of an Indian cooking training class in the UK, you will be able to avail the following jobs: By the end of the course you will have prepared four classic Indian dishes, and will have an understanding of the history and culture of each region, and how this feeds into the ideas, ingredients and flavours behind the dishes you have created. Authentic 1 to 1 Indian cookery lessons in the Cambs area . We will teach you how to cook delicious indian food completely from scratch using traditional methods, in your own home (location dependent, small additional fee might apply for longer travel distance).

Born in east India but growing up in the north of the country, Atul came to appreciate food from a young age thanks to his grandfather – a baker – and his father, who owned a catering business. ‘I learnt a lot of things form a young age,’ he says. ‘Going to the market, buying the right ingredients, looking at the melons and pumpkins – it was a part of my everyday life’. Monisha has also created and taught her popular courses at the Ashburton Cookery School in Devon, The Bertinet Kitchen in Bath, Seasoned Cookery School, south Derbyshire and at Divertimenti in Knightsbridge. She is often invited to judge food events and has been a judge at the Guild of Fine Food’s ‘ Great Taste Awards’ for the past several years. Please note spice levels can also be tailored to your taste,- a korma doesn't have to be mild, and a dansak doesn't have to be hot! These are just restaurant guides for their customers, there is no 'set in stone' level of heat a dish must have!

They will demonstrate the principles of cooking great Indian and Bangladeshi food, and then will finish off with the joy of sitting down to a satisfying meal. PERSONALISED & BESPOKE - To provide a more personal experience our lessons are private, so the only people present at your lesson will be you and any friends/family you are cooking with . We will also consult with you about the kinds of dishes you would like to learn and design the menu accordingly. Cookery classes are normally held on the first Thursday of every month. However, we are looking to cater to the needs of attendees, so it is a good idea to fill in the form below, specifying your availability. You'll be making curries, rice, bread and vegetable dishes from across India. All the recipes and ingredients are included in the lesson notes.
