If your products are permanently damaged it may be that you can claim on your house insurance for replacement products. Leading edge mode dimming is an older dimming method and is included for compatibility with older light bolbs (incandescent) and fittings. You shooldn’t need this mode with modern fittings. Mode 3 – Alternative Trailing Edge Mode Here's an example. In your lounge there is a light fitting with 2 x 20W light bulbs currently controlled by a single switch. You want to buy a dimmer to replace the switch. In your local DIY shop there are two dimmers available, one with a minimum rating of 40W and the other 60W. In this case the total lighting load is 2 x 20W = 40W. Therefore you would need to choose the dimmer with the 40W minimum load. If the dimmer is being used with certain brands of transformer (used with low voltage lighting) can prevent programming. For best performance of any Varilight dimmer with low voltage lighting, choose Varilight transformers.

Some LED lights do not illuminate at low brightness levels as they require a large amount of power to illuminate. The V-Pro dimmer has an additional Drive function that provides LED lights more power at start up. To enable the Drive function Varilight V-PRO dimmers are one of the best dimmer units available today having the ability to adapt and optimise the dimmer to the lighting you are using. Why Do Dimmers Need To Be Optimised? If the lights are brighter than you would like when the dimmer is set to minimum, you can try reducing the minimum brightness setting of the dimmer. Step 3. The lights will step up and down in brightness to show that the dimmer is in CONFIGURATION MODE, then go off. It is also "gentler" on the load (this is MODE 3). An alternative trailing-edge mode (MODE 3) may improve the performance of some dimmable LEDs and dimmable CFLs.

The lights controlled by the dimmer will step up and then down in brightness to show that the dimmer is in configuration mode. When the configuration light cycle has finished the lights will turn off or stay at the lowest light level. To confirm your choice, press and hold down the same button again, releasing after holding the button down again for at least 2 seconds. If the surface of the product has been damaged, for example during cleaning, then damp may have permeated and caused tarnishing of the faceplate. Unfortunately in this case the product is permanently damaged. To help with this process Varilight have produced an excellent video which is below Written Instructions

Both the V-Pro and V-Com LED dimmer series have three different dimming modes which can be set by the user, as well as a programmable minimum and maximum brightness settings, to optimise performance and deliver the full dimming range potential of a particular lighting load. Follow the steps outlined under the heading 'Programming' on your LED dimmerinstruction leaflet. You can also For best results with low voltage lighting use VARILIGHT electronic transformers. There is no limit on the number of transformers you can use as long as you keep within the maximum rating of the dimmer. VARILIGHT electronic transformers are suitable for controlling 12V a.c. rated LEDs (MR16). V-Pro dimmers are not suitable for wire-wound "toroidal" transformers.
