About this deal
Manual focus is also possible, as is Manual Override (MO). With this latter feature, the user is able to continue using autofocus as normal, before making any final manual adjustments using the focusing ring around the lens. This is particularly useful when capturing moving subjects, which may move slightly just prior to capture.
70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM – Sigma UK
For Canon users, the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III Lens will likely be at the top of the considerations list. The zoom ring location is also a non-issue if focal length adjustments are not needed or not needed in haste. Stopped down, this lens is truly as sharp as lenses can get. Rumor has it that it's even sharper than the Nikon 70-200 VR at f/8. A lens of this size and weight creates a significantly-front-heavy situation for a tripod-mounted camera. Thus, all 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses I've used came with a tripod ring included, providing a balanced attachment point. As hinted to, images captured with APS-C format cameras do not show shading nearly as readily and the barely-recognizable close-to-1-stop of shading in 200mm corners is essentially the only consideration in this regard. The flagship large-aperture telephoto zoom lens that meets the most stringent needs of professional photographers

A telephoto zoom is quite often the second most important lens in many photographers' camera kits (just behind a general purpose zoom lens) and the 70-200mm focal length range is ideal for a wide range of uses. While OS is great for reducing camera shake in images, it is also very helpful for framing subjects while taking photo. Simply press a focus stop button and capture enough images to be stitched together during post processing. I often use it with the 1.4x teleconverter which does not detract from sharpness, but of course you lose one stop. Don't go for the 2x teleconverter, it seems to make the lens too soft.Autofocus speed is a little on the slow side, compared to Canon USM lenses. This lens could also benefit from a focus limiter (which many 70-200 zooms have). But this is a reasonable issue, given the price of the lens. Most of the on-lens controls are grouped in a panel on the left side of the barrel. The Focus switches allows for full-time autofocus (AF), autofocus with manual override (MO), and manual focus (MF). There's also a limiter, so you can set the autofocus system to cover the full range or distant subjects (beyond 3 meters) only. Processing was done in Lightroom 4.3 from RAW at camera standard settings. Noise-reduction is set to 0, sharpening to 70/0.5/36/10, with no extra tone, color, or saturation-adjustment. White-balance was adjusted to a neutral white and I did some exposure compensation to make the brightness match. CA-removal is ON .
