About this deal

The European Dragon has never been as respected as the eastern dragons. Some humans thought that this dragon was actually the devil! Thus, it has never had temples or burnt offerings to enjoy. This book, like the other books in the Ologies series, is assigned a fictional "author" who then acts as the narrator of the book. Dr. Ernest Drake is the fictional author and owner of the original Complete Book of Dragons, with Dugald Steer being the creator of Drake, and the writer of this and several other books in the series. It is written in an encyclopedic manner rather than following any particular narrative, while also giving the reader puzzles in the book and small notes as if the fictional writer had sent them that book. Dragonologists, both amateur and academic, will hail Dr. Drake’s lavishly illustrated, ‘rediscovered’ guide. Interestingly, not all the taxa within this clade appear to be very closely related, and it's likely that there are several other (now extinct) taxa whose discovery might help better resolve their phylogenetic relationships.

Dugald Steer also wrote a series of children's books called the Dragonology Chronicles based around the lore created in the Dragonology books. There are four books in this series. The Dragon's Eye [10] published in 2006, The Dragon Diary [11] published in 2008, The Dragon's Apprentice [12] published in 2011, and The Dragon Prophecy [13] published in 2012. The largest drakes are big enough to maintain near-constant body temperatures via gigantothermy, and the best example of this is the enormous titan drake ( Dirosuchus maximus). Measuring 13-16m in length and weighing an impressive 7-9 tons, these marine reptiles are slightly larger than Tyrannosaurus rex, and are the largest members of the Draconimorpha and by extension, the largest extant reptiles. A handsome, dryly tongue-in-cheek volume. . . . All in all, a delightful treatment for readers fascinated by dragons. Do you believe in dragons? Now, for the first time, the long-lost research of renowned nineteenth century dragonologist Dr. Ernest Drake is presented in all its eccentric glory, happily bridging the gap between dragon legend and fact. The meticulous Dr. Drake assigns Latin names to various dragon species, ruminates on why dragons are able to speak, speculates on how they could fly, and explains the true purpose of their notorious hoarding habits.
