After a week of speculation and anticipation, Radiohead have released their new album A Moon Shaped Pool digitally this evening with a vinyl edition expected to follow on June 17th.

This release really made me fall in love with the album again and is one of my favourite recent vinyl purchases. With the release of the special edition a few months later, A Moon Shaped Pool climbed to number 11 on the Billboard 200 and number one on the vinyl album chart, selling 21,000 vinyl copies in one week.A Sad Reminder Although Radiohead has a consistent eerieness in their sound that could be argued, A Moon Shaped Pool brings it back and is more potent than ever. It’s not Optimal because it doesn’t have those numbers either, but it does machine etchings similar to GZ media, not matching their format exactly either. But it’s fun to collect the various ways that bands such as Radiohead present their product, and there are vinyl goodies galore dotted through their catalogue.
