As with NOW Yearbook ’83 the four-CD set is available in deluxe hardcover book set with a 28-page book with track annotations and music quiz laid out in classic ‘eighties’ style. This special edition CD is housed in ‘hard-back book’ packaging, including a 28-page booklet with a summary of the year, a track-by-track guide, a quiz, and original singles artwork. Putting the sleeves to one side, which to me just seems all a bit lazy (why couldn't they do a nice job of a gatefold at least) - it's the compiling of these albums which I have the issue with. marks one of the most iconic and successful years for singles – with the decade’s four biggest sellers all released this year.

My other gripe with these is the artists which appear more than once in any one year on these albums - just seems unnecessary.saw the emergence of a huge number of new artists hitting the charts, including Sade, Alison Moyet, Dead Or Alive, Nik Kershaw and Bronski Beat.
